Virender Sehwag sixth Indian to score 7000 Test runs

Indian dashing opening batsman Virender Sehwag became the sixth Indian batsman to score 7000 Test runs during his unbeaten knock of 97 on the second day of the third and final Test against Sri Lanka. Virender Sehwag reached the landmark during the last session when he scored a single off Sri Lankan paceman Lasith Malinga to mid off area to bring up his 70 at the P Sara Oval. The stylish Indian opener is the 38th batsman overall to have scored 7000 Test runs. 31 year old Virender Sehwag, who made his debut against South Africa in 2001 at Bloemfontein, was playing 79th Test match. Great former opening batsman Sunil Gavaskar was the first Indian to complete 7000 runs in Test cricket many years ago, while the other Indians in the list are Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly. Virender Sehwag remained unbeaten on 97 at the end of second day’s play. He cracked 17 fours in 87 balls.

MAYABAZAR-- TELUGU CINEMA CLASSIC

                                             Mayabazar

Mayabazar completed 52 years of its first release. It is regarded as best Telugu movie by critics and ordinary viewers. Mayabazar was released on March 27, 1957. Now it is released in color, with new sound system.....

Story: It is a clearly woven fiction story based on Mahabharata (Hindu Mythology).
Highlights:
1. It is a mixture of mythological and social fantasy.
2. This movie’s screen play is a lesson for every writer and director. Director and writer took 8 months to prepare screen play for this epic movie.
3. The actors and actresses were not merely acted, but lived in their roles.
4. It was produced by Nagireddy and Chakrapani under Vijaya banner. Director and screen play writer was K.V. Reddy. Story and songs writer was Pingali Nagendra Rao. Music director was Ghantasala and S. Rajeswara Rao (for 3 songs). Photographer was Marcus Bartley.
5. Though it was a story of “Pandavas”, they never appeared on the screen but audience are under the elusion that Pandavas are there in every scene.
6. Cost of production at that time was 2.6 million which was very high at that time.
7. Among the actors who acted in the movie, only 2 actors are still living today. They are Akkineni Nageswara Rao,  and Mikkilineni.
8. S.V.Rangarao who played the Gatojgaja role and Savitri role and N.T.Ramarao were really lived into the characters. N.T.Ramarao who played the Lord Krishna role in that movie later became real God to Telugu audience. In those days, the portrait of NTR as Lord Krishna was adored the every house in Andhra Pradesh.
9. The songs like “Vivaha Bhojanambu”, “Lahiri Lahirilo” are still ringing in the ears of every Telugu cine goer.
10. It is the favourite movie of Megastar Chiranjeevi.
Super hit at Box office type of cinemas are there, but maintaining the No.1 position for as long as 50 more years like this Mayabazar movie is an extra ordinary thing. One must see the movie to find its greatness. It is difficult to describe its greatness in words

REPUBLIC DAY OF INDIA

REPUBLIC DAY OF INDIA

republic-day
Republic Day is India's great national festival. It is celebrated every year on January 26, in New Delhi with great pomp and pageant and in capitals of the States, as well as at other headquarters and important places with patriotic fervour.

It was the Lahore Session of the Indian National Congress at midnight of December 31, 1929 - January 1, 1930, that the Tri-Colour Flag was unfurled by the nationalists and a pledge taken that every year on January 26, the "Republic Day" would be celebrated and that the people would unceasingly strive for the establishment of a Sovereign Democratic Republic of India. The professed pledge was successfully redeemed on 26 January, 1950, when the Constitution of India framed by the Constituent Assembly of India came into force, although the Independence from the British rule was achieved on August 15, 1947.

It is because of this that August 15 is celebrated as Independence Day, while January 26 as Republic Day. The most spectacular celebrations include the march past of the three armed Forces, massive parades, folk dances by tribal folk from the different states in picturesque costumes marking the cultural unity of India. Further, the streak of jet planes of Indian Air Force, leaving a trial of coloured smoke, marks the end of the festival. The trees on both sides of the routes and the lawns become alive with spectators.

The President of India at New Delhi, on this most colourful day, takes salute of the contingents of Armed Forces. In the States, the Governors take the salute, and in Taluqas and administrative headquarters on same procedure is adopted. At Vijay Chowk in New Delhi, three days later (i.e. 29th January) the massed bands of the Armed Forces "Beat the Retreat" in a majestic manner.

The Republic Day celebrations have rightly become world famous as one of the
Republic Day Parade
greatest shows on earth drawing thousands of eager sight-seers from all over the country and many parts of the world. No other country can draw on such a wealth of tribal traditions and cultures, so many regional forms of dances and dress. And, no other country in the world can parade so many ethnically different people in splendid uniforms as India's Armed Forces. But they are all united in their proven loyalty to the Government elected by the people and in their proud traditions and legendary gallantry.

Profile

Sachin Tendulkar has been the most complete batsman of his time, and arguably the biggest cricket icon as well. His batting is based on the purest principles: perfect balance, economy of movement, precision in stroke-making, and that intangible quality given only to geniuses, anticipation. If he doesn't have a signature stroke - the upright, back-foot punch comes close - it is because he is equally proficient in each of the full range of orthodox shots (and plenty of improvised ones as well) and can pull them out at will.

Though he has adopted a noticeably conservative approach in the last quarter of his career, there are no apparent weaknesses in Tendulkar's game. He can score all around the wicket, off both front foot and back, and has made runs in all parts of the world in all conditions.

Some of his finest performances have come against Australia, the overwhelmingly dominant team of his era. His century as a 19-year old on a lightning fast pitch at the WACA is considered one of the best innings ever to have been played in Australia. A few years later he received the ultimate compliment from the ultimate batsman when Don Bradman confided to his wife that Tendulkar reminded him of himself.

Blessed with the keenest of cricket minds, and armed with a loathing for losing, Tendulkar set about doing what it took to become one of the best batsmen in the world. This was after he was turned away from a fast-bowling camp in Chennai by Dennis Lillee.

Tendulkar's greatness was established early: he was only 16 when he made his Test debut. He was hit on the mouth by Waqar Younis but continued to bat, in a blood-soaked shirt. His first Test hundred, a match-saving one at Old Trafford, came when he was 17, and he had 16 Test hundreds before he turned 25. In 2000 he became the first batsman to have scored 50 international hundreds, and in 2008 he passed Brian Lara as the leading Test run-scorer and the first to 12,000 runs. He currently holds the record for most hundreds in both Tests and ODIs - remarkable, considering he didn't score his first ODI hundred till his 79th match.

Tendulkar's considerable achievements seem greater still when looked at in the light of the burden of expectations he has had to bear from his adoring but somewhat unreasonable followers, who have been prone to regard anything less than a hundred as a failure. The aura may have dimmed, if only slightly, as the years on the international circuit have taken their toll on the body, but Tendulkar remains, by a distance, the most worshipped cricketer in the world.
